The open call was launched in late August 2025,
and just three months later, on November 22, the project was officially unveiled!
In Date City, Fukushima Prefecture—one of Japan’s leading knit production areas—
the yarn bombing art project wrapping public objects in knitwear, titled
“Let’s Knit with Love! Date Knit Project,”
was successfully completed and presented, thanks to the generous support of many people both inside and outside the prefecture, despite the short preparation period.
The project was initiated by the Fukushima Knit Industrial Association,
an organization formed by highly skilled knit factories that work with numerous domestic brands.
With the aim of helping more people learn about Date City as a knit production region and its initiatives,
the “Let’s Knit with Love! Date Knit Project Executive Committee” was established.
By bringing together discarded knitted fabrics and yarn from factories,
as well as unused yarn from knitting enthusiasts,
this warm initiative fosters creative works and a community born from
machine knitting × hand knitting, allowing everyone to enjoy growing the project together.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who supported and participated in this project.
All those involved hope to continue nurturing and expanding the connections formed through this project.
The project will be enhanced and unveiled once again between April and June this year,
and we would greatly appreciate your continued support.
